Translating From English to Chinese

This subject develops students' core translation skills, enabling them to undertake professional written translation. Students will deepen their understanding of the linguistic features of Chinese and English, as well as the differences between them, and gain a nuanced understanding of cross-cultural register differences within the area of community translation. Using the standards for 'Certified Translator' from Australia's National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) as a framework, students will undertake regular practical tasks and sharpen their ability to review translations, identify errors, and compare and evaluate translation choices.
