Translating in an Australian Context

This subject exposes students to a diverse range of texts within a variety of Australian cultural domains. Students will be guided to develop deep understanding of texts within their associated contexts, and gain an appreciation of key linguistic differences between English and Chinese, and the complexities of the translation/interpreting process. Through developing solutions to overcome translation/interpreting challenges, and by utilising a variety of creative and culturally appropriate strategies and techniques, students will learn to produce Chinese texts that successfully achieve cross-cultural communication within an Australian cultural landscape for a variety of purposes.
