University of Melbourne
This subject is an introduction to contemporary approaches to inclusive social policy through the lens of ageing. Students will specifically explore issues and challenges that have arisen due to population ageing and discuss topics such as paid and unpaid caregiving, retirement and financial inclusion, and social isolation and loneliness. Students will engage with case studies of programs and policies to consider how governments and NGOs have attempted to address these issues. The subject will also draw on students’ own experiences of inclusive policy development and implementation and learn how to defend their practical policy ideas through scholarly arguments and evidence.
