Clinical Optics and Refraction (OD)

Optometrists play a vital role in optimising vision and eye health through comprehensive eye care. Refraction is a key component of an eye examination, used to assess refractive error, optimise visual acuity, evaluate binocular vision, and prescribe corrective lenses. By accurately determining and correcting refractive errors, optometrists enhance visual performance, comfort, and overall quality of life for patients of all ages. In this subject, students will receive hands-on training in performing a comprehensive refractive examination, including techniques for measuring and correcting refractive errors. Students will also explore the optical principles behind spectacle lenses, gaining the knowledge needed to make precise and effective prescriptions.
