Visual Neuroscience (OD)

This subject builds on foundational neuroscience knowledge, offering an advanced exploration of the neural mechanisms underlying visual processing from the retina to higher cortical areas. Students will engage with the structure, function, and development of the visual system, examining how neural pathways enable critical visual functions such as form, colour, depth, and motion perception, as well as visually guided action. The subject also delves into higher-order visual processes, including visual attention, reading, and eye movement control, and explores how vision integrates with other sensory modalities such as balance, hearing, and touch. A key component of this subject involves developing and evaluating multiple-choice questions (MCQs), which will deepen students' conceptual understanding and enhance their ability to critically assess neuroscience knowledge.
