Optics of the Eye (OD)

The human eye can be considered a simple optical instrument that projects images of the world onto the retina, initiating the visual process. This subject will cover concepts from optics that relate to image formation in the eye, including: the nature of light and how it interacts with the physical environment, the measurement of light, geometric optics and how it can be used to understand the formation of images by lenses and optical systems, and aberrations and their impact on image quality.
