University of Melbourne
Communication is the key driver of political and social change. It shapes our understanding of the world, of current issues and of the people affected by them. To be able to use communication effectively - and to recognize when it is abused - is the most powerful skill for advancing towards a safe and equitable future. This subject enhances students’ media and digital literacy by developing their communication and writing skills and empowering them to become eloquent advocates for change. Together, we will critically examine concepts of nationalism, Indigeneity, sustainability, and power from a diverse range of voices to better understand the impact of representation on local and global issues.
