Theory & Practice in Education Research

Theory & Practice in Education Research builds on the Graduate Certificate subject Clinical Education Research & Evaluation by extending understandings of research paradigms, theories, and conceptual frameworks and how they inform research design, analysis, and practice. In the first part of the subject, the students will investigate key theories associated with different research paradigms including sociocultural theories (interpretivist paradigm) and cognitivist/behaviourist theories (post-positivist paradigm). In the second part of the subject, students apply this knowledge to their own context and research interests and develop their own conceptual framework for a research proposal.
