University of Melbourne
This subject introduces learners to the links between ‘space’ and novel and innovative pedagogies, bringing together interdisciplinary theoretical approaches in architecture, education and learning environments. It examines theories, debates, policies and practices of learning environments that advocate for a range of student learning outcomes, such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication, that are required of contemporary students. In doing so, it supports the development of learners’ spatial competencies to use the pedagogical affordances of innovative design features that are increasingly being used in schools and other educational institutions around the world.
