University of Melbourne
Organisations operate within a societal context of diverse stakeholders. In this subject, students examine an organisation's relationship with its stakeholders, as well as their own responsibility to the stakeholders. They consider strategies for achieving social responsibility goals such as environmental sustainability, employee satisfaction and societal welfare, taking into account both the ethical case and the business case for such strategies. This subject also examines a range of alternative approaches to moral and ethical reasoning as well as the applications of those approaches to the complex and dynamic ethical problems that confront leaders of modern organisations, both in Australia and in other cultures.
