This capstone subject provides the opportunity for students to prepare for professional careers that will integrate their knowledge across accounting sub-disciplines and other business disciplines, for example, financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems, economics, management and finance, to examine various case studies and current news events. Students will draw on the knowledge, understanding and skills acquired in their coursework program to expand discussions, develop their judgements, make recommendations and complete an in-depth investigation into an accounting topic of interest. Students will also be able to examine how upcoming technologies have changed industry practices and how they should prepare for such challenges. The subject is application-oriented with a focus on group-based activities and developing written and oral communication skills expected by employers and clients that are essential to a successful professional career.
