Interactive Composition
Interactive Composition is an intensive, collaborative program giving students the skills to create music and sound for a range of contemporary media contexts. This major works closely with all other disciplines within the Faculty and across the University and focuses on commercially driven cross-art modes of composition – for events, film, television, animation, theatre, music theatre, dance, pop music, advertising, video gaming, online sites, installation art and sound design. Intended learning outcomes On completion of this major, students should be able to: situate their creative practice and aesthetic position in the contemporary music and sound making context; draw on a broad range of musical and artistic reference points in music and sound with other media work; engage critically and productively in aesthetic dialogue within the contemporary music and sound with other media community; apply a fluent and flexible technique to music and sound with other media composition; respond to extra-musical briefs with resourcefulness and adaptability; uphold rigorous intellectual and ethical standards in music and sound making planning, preparation and documentation; explore sound production and manipulation via technology with skill and imagination; apply critical intelligence, self-reflection and creative problem-solving to their development as contemporary music and sound makers.
